The SCRT Council is responsible for ensuring that Respiratory Therapists in the province are governed in accordance with The Respiratory Therapists Act and its bylaws. Council develops, approves, and reviews its governance policies to ensure good governance practices of the college are upheld.

The nine-member Council consists of six members elected from the SCRT membership (including three members-at-large from three regions of the province, the President, President-elect, and Treasurer), three government appointed public representatives and the college’s Executive Director (a non-elected, non-voting position). As the majority of Council members are Respiratory Therapists, the profession is referred to as “self-regulated”.
