Regina Qu’Appelle Health RegionJob Description: Under the direction of the Manager, Respiratory Services, and the supervision
of the Program Coordinators, the Respiratory Therapist is responsible for general and
specialized respiratory care in the assigned areas, as well as assisting with special projects
and maintaining respiratory therapy equipment. The incumbent will promote the delivery of
patient centred care through the application of professional standards. The position will
have specific responsibilities related to patient needs and clinical knowledge.
Position Duties:
Provides general and specialized respiratory care including but not limited to:
Airway management including endotracheal intubation
Arterial line insertion
Patient transport
Tracheostomy tube changes and care
Mechanical ventilation
Arterial Blood Gas procurement and analysis
Patient assessment
Delivery of medication
Patient teaching
Inservicing
Oxygen therapy & humidification therapy
Attendance at emergency situations including high risk deliveries
Calibration and maintenance of equipment
Suction therapy
Bedside spirometery testing
Assistance with bronchoscopies
Resuscitation—front line member of the code blue and trauma teams
